The domination by one country of the political, economic, or cultural life of another country or region.
Causes:
Who would own what part of Africa
Everyone trying to get resources from Africa
Eurpeons owning almost all of Africa
Countries wanting to expand to have more wealth and power
Countries wanting gold
Industrial Revolution
Access to natural resources
Through Europeon eyes:
Gained a lot of power
Nation-states unified
Enriched European economy and military
Agressive expansion now called "new imperialsim"
Controled and influenced much of the world
Thought they were better then everyone
Through African eyes:
Robbed of their way of life
Looked at as slaves
Their continent was being taking over by many Europeon powers
Their continent was being torn appart by Europeons
They were treated as they were not as "important" as Eurpeons
How Europe forced their rule on other coutries:
They were stronger than Africa
They were more advanced in many fields such as war and medicnes
They had a very steady economy and government
Africa was weak and couldnt fight back against the Europeon people
Consequences of Imperialsim:
There are good and bad effects
African cuntries are now destroyed in result of Imperialsim
Europe is now strong politcally from the success in their Imperialism
Africa is now cut up into random countries and some cultures are split up do to this
The whole world is effected
The whole world's economy and cultures are changed due to Imperialism
England doesn't need any help from any other coutries now
